| 24 | 24 | | Assembly convened: |

| 26 | 26 | | Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) Each construction 1 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contractor hired by a public utility to engage in the installation or 2 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | replacement of natural gas distribution infrastructure shall (1) employ 3 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | on site only employees who have successfully completed all of the 4 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | training and obtained all certifications required by this state for the 5 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | performance of such installation or replacement of natural gas 6 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | distribution infrastructure, and (2) notify the Gas Pipeline Safety Unit 7 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority when hiring or utilizing a 8 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | contractor who is not a resident of this state. Such notification shall 9 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | include confirmation that such contractor has successfully completed 10 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the training and obtained the certifications specified in subdivision (1) 11 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | of this section. 12 |

| 38 | 38 | | This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following |
