2121 AN ACT CONCERNING BA SIC LABOR STANDARDS FOR
2222 TRANSPORTATION NETWO RK COMPANY DRIVERS.
2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2424 Assembly convened:

2626 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2019) (a) A transportation network 1
2727 company shall pay each transportation network company driver not 2
2828 less than seventy-five per cent of the money collected from each rider 3
2929 for each prearranged ride completed, and shall not keep more than 4
3030 twenty-five per cent of the total moneys collected for any 5
3131 transportation network company driver on any day. As used in this 6
3232 section, "prearranged ride", "rider", "transportation network company" 7
3333 and "transportation network company driver" have the same meaning 8
3434 as provided in section 13b-116 of the general statutes. 9
3535 (b) A transportation network company shall not discriminate in any 10
3636 manner against a transportation network company driver or group of 11
3737 drivers on account of participation in discussions regarding, 12
3838 organizing or advocating for, in any manner, better treatment by, or 13

4646 (c) (1) If a transportation network company violates any provision of 15
4747 subsection (a) of this section, an affected transportation network 16
4848 company driver may recover, in a civil action, twice the amount owed 17
4949 to the driver by the transportation network company, and may also 18
5050 recover reasonable attorneys' fees and costs. 19
5151 (2) If a transportation network company violates any provision of 20
5252 subsection (b) of this section, an affected transportation network 21
5353 company driver may recover, in a civil action, compensatory and 22
5454 punitive damages, and may also recover reasonable attorneys' fees and 23
5555 costs. 24
5656 (d) Each transportation network company operating in this state 25
5757 shall, on a quarterly basis, report to the Commissioner of 26
5858 Transportation the total number of prearranged rides completed by its 27
5959 transportation network company drivers during the quarter, the total 28
6060 amount of money collected from riders for such rides and the total 29
6161 amount of money paid to its transportation network company drivers 30
6262 for such prearranged rides. 31
6363 (e) The Labor Commissioner may enforce the provisions of this 32
6464 section. 33
6565 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
