1919 AN ACT CONCERNING DO G LICENSING FEES.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2323 Section 1. Section 22-338 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2424 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2019): 2
2525 (a) Each owner or keeper of a dog of the age of six months or older, 3
2626 except dogs kept under a kennel license as provided in section 22-342, 4
2727 shall cause such dog to be licensed in the town clerk's office in the 5
2828 town where such dog is kept, on or before June thirtieth, annually, or 6
2929 at such time as such dog becomes six months old, and annually 7
3030 thereafter, on or before June thirtieth. The owner or keeper shall pay to 8
3131 such town clerk for such license the sum of [seven] ten dollars for each 9
3232 neutered male or spayed female dog and the sum of [twelve] twenty 10
3333 dollars for each unneutered male dog and each unspayed female dog, 11
3434 and [one] two additional [dollar] dollars in each case as the town 12
3535 clerk's fee for issuing a tag and license as provided in section 22-340. 13
3636 [Two] Three dollars from each license fee collected for a neutered or 14
3737 spayed dog shall be deposited into the animal population control 15

4444 dog fails to procure a license as required by this section, such owner or 17
4545 keeper shall pay the appropriate license fee specified in this section, 18
4646 the town clerk's fee and a penalty of one dollar for each month or 19
4747 fraction thereof the dog remains unlicensed. 20
4848 (b) Any owner or keeper applying for a license for a dog under 21
4949 subsection (a) of this section, except for those owners or keepers 22
5050 possessing a rabies vaccination exemption certificate, or a copy thereof, 23
5151 issued pursuant to section 22-339b, shall submit to the town clerk a 24
5252 rabies certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian, or a copy thereof, 25
5353 stating that such dog has been vaccinated against rabies, the date of the 26
5454 vaccination and the duration of the immunity provided by the vaccine. 27
5555 No license shall be issued unless the certificate indicates that the 28
5656 immunity provided by the vaccine is effective at the time of licensing. 29
5757 (c) Any owner or keeper applying for a license for a dog pursuant to 30
5858 subsection (a) of this section that has been exempted from vaccination 31
5959 against rabies pursuant to section 22-339b shall submit to the town 32
6060 clerk a rabies vaccination exemption certificate issued by the 33
6161 department, or a copy thereof, in lieu of a rabies certificate. 34
6262 (d) This section shall not apply to any dog which is imported into 35
6363 this state for exhibition purposes and which does not remain in this 36
6464 state for more than thirty days. Any person may import, from another 37
6565 state, any licensed dog with collar, tag and rabies vaccination 38
6666 certificate, and keep the same in this state for not more than thirty 39
6767 days, without complying with the provisions of this section. 40
6868 Sec. 2. Section 22-380l of the general statutes is repealed and the 41
6969 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2019): 42
7070 For each license issued pursuant to section 22-338, as amended by 43
7171 this act, for an unspayed or unneutered dog, the town clerk shall 44
7272 collect a surcharge of [six] eight dollars which shall be deposited by 45
7373 such clerk into the animal population control account established 46
