LCO No. 1391 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 224 February Session, 2020 LCO No. 1391 Referred to Committee on VETERANS' AFFAIRS Introduced by: (VA) AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF VETERANS' TAX ABATEMENTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) The Commissioner of 1 Veterans Affairs shall conduct a study of tax abatements available to 2 veterans, as defined in section 27-103 of the general statutes, to 3 determine (1) whether the amounts of such tax abatements should be 4 increased, and (2) whether a tax abatement incentive program should 5 be established to offer veterans employed within Connecticut, but 6 residing outside the state, an incentive to relocate to Connecticut. The 7 commissioner shall report, in accordance with the provisions of section 8 11-4a of the general statutes, the findings of such study to the joint 9 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 10 matters relating to military and veterans' affairs on or before January 1, 11 2021. 12 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Raised Bill No. 224 LCO No. 1391 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To study tax abatements available to veterans in this state.
