AN ACT CONCERNING FAMILY RELATIONS MATTERS ALLEGING 
CONTEMPT OF A COURT ORDER. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 46b-87 of the general statutes be amended to: (1) 1 
Mandate the award of a reasonable attorney's fee to the prevailing party 2 
in a family relations matter alleging contempt of a court order; (2) 3 
require a person imprisoned for contempt of court to pay the costs of his 4 
or her incarceration; (3) permit the state to bring a claim against any 5 
person incarcerated for contempt under this section for which the state 6 
has not been reimbursed. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To provide uniformity, consistency and fairness in contempt 
proceedings held in family court.
