AN ACT INCREASING THE COUNSEL FEES PENALTY FOR FILING
AN UNREASONABLE AND UNTRUE PLEADING IN A CIVIL ACTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 52-99 of the general statutes be amended to increase the 1
counsel fees penalty that may be taxed by the court against a party who 2
files an unreasonable and untrue pleading from ten dollars to five 3
hundred dollars. 4
Statement of Purpose:
To increase the penalty for making untrue allegations without
reasonable cause in an amount that is consistent with the provisions of
the Connecticut Practice Book.
