1818 AN ACT CONCERNING DATA COLLECTION TO PREVENT
1919 MALNUTRITION AMONG SENIOR CITIZENS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That section 17a-302a of the general statutes be amended to require 1
2424 the Commissioner of Aging and Disability Services to file a report, in 2
2525 accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, 3
2626 with the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having 4
2727 cognizance of matters relating to aging and human services on: (1) 5
2828 Statistics regarding the number of meals on wheels delivered and 6
2929 congregate meals served in the communities covered by each area 7
3030 agency on aging, (2) an estimated percentage of eligible senior citizens 8
3131 in each such area who are not being provided with meals, (3) the cost to 9
3232 provide each meal compared to state reimbursement, (4) cutbacks in 10
3333 meal service in each such area related to inadequate reimbursement, 11
3434 and (5) recommendations for improvement, including, but not limited 12
3535 to, best practices nationwide to ensure senior citizens get the support 13

4141 Statement of Purpose:
4242 To combat malnutrition among senior citizens by identifying gaps in the
4343 provision of meals, causes for such gaps and recommendations for
4444 improvement.
