AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO STUDY THE BEAR POPULATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require that the Department 1 of Energy and Environmental Protection conduct a study for developing 2 recommendations regarding bear overpopulation that shall include, but 3 not be limited to, the feasibility of designating a wildlife refuge or 4 sanctuary for bears on designated or state-owned land. 5 Statement of Purpose: To generate recommendations for a safe, humane and effective way of dealing with the state's bear population.
