AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TAX ON SOCIAL MEDIA PROVIDER 
COMPANIES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to establish a tax on social 1 
media provider companies on the apportioned annual gross revenue 2 
derived from social media advertising services in the state, the revenue 3 
from such tax to be dedicated, in part, to fund online bullying 4 
prevention efforts and training and research for counselors and 5 
educational institutions to address social isolation and suicide 6 
prevention. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To establish a tax on social media provider companies on the 
apportioned annual gross revenue derived from social media 
advertising services in the state.
