1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF LEGAL COUNSEL IN A
1919 CRIMINAL MATTER TO A PERSON UNDER EIGHTEEN YEARS OF
2020 AGE.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That the general statutes be amended to provide that: (1) Any person 1
2525 under eighteen years of age who is charged with a crime shall 2
2626 automatically be assigned legal counsel irrespective of the household 3
2727 income of such person; and (2) no law enforcement agency personnel 4
2828 may meet with a person under eighteen year of age who is charged with 5
2929 a crime unless the assigned legal counsel is present with such person at 6
3030 the meeting. 7

3232 To provide enhanced legal protections to a person under eighteen years
3333 of age who is charged with a crime.
