AN ACT EXTENDING THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN FAILURE TO 
REPORT CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT CASES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to extend the statute of 1 
limitations for the criminal prosecution of a violation of failure to report 2 
child abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter to five years from the time 3 
the mandated reporter is informed of, suspects, or has reason to believe 4 
abuse may have occurred, or is occurring. 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To provide for a longer period to prosecute failure to report child abuse 
or neglect in order to strengthen protections for children.
