AN ACT CONCERNING MOTOR VEHICLE SEARCHES, USE OF FORCE AND DEPRIVATION OF EQUAL PROTECTION BY POLICE OFFICERS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) repeal section 54-33o of 1 the general statutes regarding the search of a motor vehicle by a law 2 enforcement officer; (2) delay the effective date of changes to section 3 53a-22 of the general statutes regarding police use of force, from April 4 1, 2021, to October 1, 2022; and (3) delay the effective date of section 52-5 571k of the general statutes regarding deprivation of equal protection of 6 the laws of the state committed by a police officer, from July 1, 2021, to 7 July 1, 2022. 8 Statement of Purpose: To repeal provisions governing search of a motor vehicle by law enforcement officers, delay the effective date of changes to provisions governing use of force by police officers in order to provide sufficient time for police officers to be trained and delay the effective date of provisions regarding civil suits for deprivation of equal protection of the Proposed Bill No. 6041 LCO No. 2386 2 of 2 laws of the state committed by police officers in order to fully analyze the effects of the provisions on municipalities.
