2222 AN ACT INCREASING FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR DISTRESSED
2323 MUNICIPALITIES THAT CHOOSE TO REGIONALIZE THEIR SCHOOL
2424 DISTRICTS.
2525 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2626 Assembly convened:

2828 That subdivision (2) of subsection (b) of section 10-285a of the general 1
2929 statutes be amended to increase the amount of the regionalization bonus 2
3030 for a new construction or renovation school building project grant from 3
3131 ten per cent to fifteen per cent for all towns establishing or expanding a 4
3232 regional school district, and to increase such bonus to twenty per cent if 5
3333 two or more towns establishing or expanding a regional school district 6
3434 are distressed municipalities, as defined in section 32-9p of the general 7
3535 statutes; and, that chapter 172 of the general statutes be amended to 8
3636 provide a regionalization bonus grant to any distressed municipality 9
3737 that establishes a regional school district and that such grant shall be in 10
3838 an amount equal to fifty per cent of the projected savings to the state 11
3939 that will be achieved as a result of regionalizing the school district over 12 Proposed Bill No. 6135

4444 the initial ten-year period and paid out during the first two fiscal years 13
4545 following the establishment of the regional school district. 14

4747 To provide additional financial resources to towns that are distressed
4848 municipalities and that choose to regionalize their school districts.
