AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROHIBITION ON EMPLOYMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS WHO WERE TERMINATED FOR OR RESIGNED OR RETIRED WHILE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR CERTAIN CONDUCT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 7-291c of the general statutes be amended to provide a 1 person who was dismissed from service as a police officer for, or who 2 resigned or retired while under investigation for, malfeasance or other 3 serious misconduct calling into question such person's fitness to serve 4 as a police officer, an opportunity to be relieved of the prohibition on 5 future employment with a law enforcement unit in this state. 6 Statement of Purpose: To grant due process protections and the opportunity for relief from the prohibition on future employment as a police officer to officers who were previously terminated, or who resigned or retired while under investigation, for malfeasance or other serious misconduct calling into question such person's fitness to serve as a police officer.
