1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROHIBITION ON EMPLOYMENT OF
1919 POLICE OFFICERS WHO WERE TERMINATED FOR OR RESIGNED
2020 OR RETIRED WHILE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR CERTAIN

2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That section 7-291c of the general statutes be amended to provide a 1
2626 person who was dismissed from service as a police officer for, or who 2
2727 resigned or retired while under investigation for, malfeasance or other 3
2828 serious misconduct calling into question such person's fitness to serve 4
2929 as a police officer, an opportunity to be relieved of the prohibition on 5
3030 future employment with a law enforcement unit in this state. 6
3131 Statement of Purpose:
3232 To grant due process protections and the opportunity for relief from the
3333 prohibition on future employment as a police officer to officers who
3434 were previously terminated, or who resigned or retired while under
3535 investigation, for malfeasance or other serious misconduct calling into
3636 question such person's fitness to serve as a police officer.
