AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE OBSTACLE S TO MERGING
OR CONSOLIDATING MUN ICIPAL FIRE DISTRICTS AND FIRE
DEPARTMENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Secretary of the Office of Policy 1
and Management, in consultation with municipal officials selected by 2
the secretary, shall conduct a study regarding the obstacles to merging 3
or consolidating the fire districts or fire departments of two or more 4
municipalities. Not later than January 1, 2022, the secretary shall submit 5
a report on the findings of such study, in accordance with the provisions 6
of section 11-4a of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee 7
of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to 8
planning and development. 9
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To require the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management to
conduct a study regarding the obstacles to merging or consolidating the
fire districts or fire departments of two or more municipalities.
