9	14		AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE OBSTACLE S TO MERGING
10	15		OR CONSOLIDATING MUN ICIPAL FIRE DISTRICTS AND FIRE
11	16		DEPARTMENTS.
12	17		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
13	18		Assembly convened:

15		-	Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Secretary of the Office of Policy
16		-	and Management, in consultation with municipal officials selected by
17		-	the secretary and a representative of the Uniformed Professional
18		-	Firefighters Association of Connecticut, shall conduct a study regarding
19		-	the obstacles to merging or consolidating the fire districts or fire
20		-	departments of two or more municipalities. Not later than January 1,
21		-	2022, the secretary shall submit a report on the findings of such study,
22		-	in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes,
23		-	to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having
24		-	cognizance of matters relating to planning and development.
