AN ACT INCREASING THE MAXIMUM PENALTY FOR WRONGFUL
DENIALS UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That subdivision (2) of subsection (b) of section 1-206 of the general 1
statutes be amended to increase the maximum penalty for the denial of 2
any right created by the Freedom of Information Act that was without 3
reasonable grounds from one thousand dollars to five thousand dollars. 4
Statement of Purpose:
To increase the maximum penalty for the wrongful denial of any right
created by the Freedom of Information Act.
