AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH CARE FOR INMATES OF
CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of 1
Correction to (1) implement general improvements to the health care 2
provided to inmates, including preventative medicine, chronic disease 3
management, mental health and substance use disorder services, 4
infectious disease prevention and reproductive health care, (2) 5
coordinate patient care and medical record keeping between the civilian 6
health care system and the department, and (3) ensure continuity of care 7
through transitional programs for all inmates entering and exiting the 8
correctional system. 9
Statement of Purpose:
To improve the provision of health care to inmates.
