AN ACT EXPANDING THE STATE'S RED FLAG LAW. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That titles 29 and 53a of the general statutes be amended to expand 1 the coverage and applicability of risk protection orders to allow a family 2 member, social worker, health care worker, clergy or other concerned 3 community member to notify the court directly about a person who is 4 in possession of a firearm and has threatened to harm herself, himself or 5 another person and ask the court to issue an order to remove firearms 6 from the possession of the person issuing such threats or committing 7 acts of violence. 8 Statement of Purpose: To expand the coverage and applicability of risk protection orders to allow a family member, social worker, health care worker, clergy or other concerned community member to notify the court directly about a person who is in possession of a firearm and has threatened to harm herself, himself or another person and ask the court to issue an order to Proposed Bill No. 219 LCO No. 227 2 of 2 remove firearms from the possession of the person issuing such threats or committing acts of violence.
