AN ACT REQUIRING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE APPLICANTS TO 
PROVIDE PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to require applicants for public 1 
assistance, including, but not limited to, medical and housing assistance, 2 
to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to obtain benefits. 3 
Statement of Purpose:   
To reduce fraud, waste and misuse of state resources.
