AN ACT PERMITTING REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO CARRY 
OVER UNEXPENDED FUNDS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to permit a 1 
regional board of education to deposit into a nonlapsing account any 2 
unexpended funds from the prior fiscal year from the budgeted 3 
appropriation for education for the regional school district, provided 4 
such deposited amount does not exceed two per cent of the total 5 
budgeted appropriation for education for such prior fiscal year, and 6 
each expenditure from such account shall be made only for educational 7 
purposes. 8 
Statement of Purpose:   
To ensure equity in education savings by creating parity between local 
and regional boards of education with regard to nonlapsing reserve 
funds.
