AN ACT CONCERNING ACCESS TO LEGAL COUNSEL FOR CHILDREN AND OTHER STATE RESIDENTS IN IMMIGRATION REMOVAL PROCEEDINGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That: (1) The general statutes be amended to establish a right to legal 1 representation for certain individuals in immigration removal 2 proceedings at the federal Executive Office for Immigration Review; and 3 (2) a task force be established to study the unmet legal needs of indigent 4 residents subject to federal immigration removal hearings. 5 Statement of Purpose: To ensure the fair treatment of children and other state residents in immigration removal proceedings.
