AN ACT REVISING PROVISIONS OF PUBLIC ACT 20 -1 OF THE JULY SPECIAL SESSION, ALSO KNOWN AS THE POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY ACT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Repeal section 52-571k of 1 the general statutes regarding deprivation of equal protection of the 2 laws of the state committed by a police officer; (2) amend sections 7-3 294hh and 29-8 of the general statutes to eliminate the liability arising 4 from the failure of a police officer to strictly comply with crowd control 5 requirements; (3) eliminate the changes to section 53a-22 of the general 6 statutes regarding police use of force that are effective April 1, 2021; and 7 (4) amend section 7-294ee of the general statutes to eliminate the 8 requirement that each law enforcement unit obtain and maintain 9 accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement 10 Agencies, Inc. beginning on January 1, 2025. 11 Statement of Purpose: To provide relief to law enforcement from provisions of public act 20-1 of the July special session that negatively impact public safety.
