2018 AN ACT CONCERNING CONNECTICUT TOURISM COUNCIL
2119 MEMBERSHIP.
2220 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2321 Assembly convened:

25-Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 10-397c of the general statutes is 1
26-repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from 2
27-passage): 3
28-(a) There is established within the Department of Economic and 4
29-Community Development, for administrative purposes only, a 5
30-Connecticut Tourism Council. The council shall consist of (1) the 6
31-Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, or the 7
32-commissioner's designee, (2) the Commissioner of Transportation, or 8
33-the commissioner's designee, (3) the Commissioner of Energy and 9
34-Environmental Protection, or the commissioner's designee, (4) [twelve] 10
35-thirteen members appointed by the Governor, (A) one of whom shall 11
36-represent the lodging industry, (B) one of whom shall represent a 12
37-chamber of commerce, (C) one of whom shall represent a tourist 13
38-attraction, (D) one of whom shall represent the arts, (E) one of whom 14
39-shall represent a culturally diverse event or attraction, (F) one of whom 15
40-shall represent the heritage tourism industry, (G) one of whom shall 16

46-represent the airline industry, (H) one of whom shall represent the 17
47-Connecticut Airport Authority, (I) one of whom shall represent a 18
48-convention center and sports arena trade organization, (J) one of whom 19
49-shall represent a charter bus trade organization, [and] (K) two of whom 20
50-shall represent casino gaming facilities, and (L) one of whom shall 21
51-represent the Connecticut Tourism Coalition, (5) fourteen members 22
52-appointed as follows: (A) Three by the president pro tempore of the 23
53-Senate, one of whom shall represent the agritourism industry, one of 24
54-whom shall represent the convention center and coliseum industry and 25
55-one of whom shall represent the eastern regional tourism district 26
56-established pursuant to section 10-397, (B) two by the majority leader of 27
57-the Senate, one of whom shall represent the events industry and one of 28
58-whom shall represent the western regional tourism district established 29
59-pursuant to section 10-397, (C) two by the minority leader of the Senate, 30
60-one of whom shall represent the marine trades industry and one of 31
61-whom shall represent the outdoor recreation industry, (D) three by the 32
62-speaker of the House of Representatives, one of whom shall represent 33
63-the destination shopping industry, one of whom shall represent the 34
64-restaurant industry and one of whom shall represent the central 35
65-regional tourism district established pursuant to section 10-397, (E) two 36
66-by the majority leader of the House of Representatives, one of whom 37
67-shall represent the attractions industry and one of whom shall represent 38
68-the lodging industry, and (F) two by the minority leader of the House of 39
69-Representatives, one of whom shall represent the museum industry and 40
70-one of whom shall represent the tour and travel industry. All members 41
71-appointed by the Governor shall serve a term of four years. The terms 42
72-of all members appointed by members of the General Assembly shall be 43
73-coterminous with the terms of such members of the General Assembly. 44
74-The Commissioner of Economic and Community Development shall 45
75-serve as chairperson of the council. 46
76-This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
77-sections:
