MARONEY, 14th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING MINORITY TEACHER RECRUITMENT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require (1) the Office of 1 Higher Education, the Department of Education and the Commission 2 on Women Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity to jointly market 3 the minority teacher recruitment program, (2) the Office of Higher 4 Education and the Department of Education to establish a minority 5 teacher mentorship program for students and current teachers, and (3) 6 the Office of Higher Education, the Department of Education and the 7 Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority to jointly 8 establish a student loan forgiveness program for minority teachers who 9 teach in school districts specified by said department. 10 Statement of Purpose: To market the minority teacher recruitment program, establish a mentorship program for minority teachers and establish a student loan forgiveness program for minority teachers who teach in certain school districts.
