| 26 | 26 | | (a) For the purposes of this section, "visitable housing" means one-to-3 |

| 27 | 27 | | four family residential construction that includes three basic 4 |

| 28 | 28 | | architectural features to allow persons with disabilities to easily visit: (1) 5 |

| 29 | 29 | | Interior doorways that provide a minimum thirty-two inch wide 6 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | unobstructed opening, (2) an accessible means of egress, as defined in 7 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Appendix A to 28 CFR Part 36, and (3) a full or half bathroom on the 8 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | first floor that is compliant with the provisions of the Americans with 9 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Disabilities Act of 1990, [as amended,] 42 USC 12101, as amended from 10 |

| 35 | 35 | | (b) The Department of Housing, in consultation with the Connecticut 12 |

| 36 | 36 | | Housing Finance Authority, may establish a program to encourage the 13 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | development of visitable housing in the state. The program shall (1) 14 |

| 45 | 44 | | technical assistance from the state to construct visitable housing, (2) 16 |

| 46 | 45 | | identify financial incentives for developers who construct visitable 17 |

| 47 | 46 | | housing, and (3) include public education about such housing. [The 18 |

| 48 | 47 | | department shall submit a report on the status of the program, in 19 |
|---|
| 49 | 48 | | accordance with section 11-4a, to the joint standing committee of the 20 |
|---|
| 50 | 49 | | General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to housing not 21 |
|---|
| 51 | 50 | | later than October 1, 2012.] 22 |

| 52 | 51 | | (c) The Department of Housing shall establish, within available 23 |

| 53 | 52 | | appropriations, an informational web page in a conspicuous place on 24 |
