2020 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO STUD Y INSURANCE

2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2525 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established a task force 1
2626 to study insurance and health care in this state. 2
2727 (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: 3
2828 (1) Two appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives; 4
2929 (2) Two appointed by the president pro tempore of the Senate; 5
3030 (3) One appointed by the majority leader of the House of 6

3232 (4) One appointed by the majority leader of the Senate; 8
3333 (5) One appointed by the minority leader of the House of 9

4241 (7) The Insurance Commissioner, or the commissioner's designee; 12

4544 (c) Any member of the task force appointed under subdivision (1), 15
4645 (2), (3), (4), (5) or (6) of subsection (b) of this section may be a member 16
4746 of the General Assembly. 17
4847 (d) All initial appointments to the task force shall be made not later 18
4948 than thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall 19
5049 be filled by the appointing authority. 20
5150 (e) The speaker of the House of Representatives and the president pro 21
5251 tempore of the Senate shall select the chairpersons of the task force from 22
5352 among the members of the task force. Such chairpersons shall schedule 23
5453 the first meeting of the task force, which shall be held not later than sixty 24
5554 days after the effective date of this section. 25
5655 (f) The administrative staff of the joint standing committee of the 26
5756 General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance 27
5857 shall serve as administrative staff of the task force. 28
5958 (g) Not later than January 1, 2022, the task force shall submit a report 29
6059 on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing committee of 30
6160 the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to 31
6261 insurance, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the 32
6362 general statutes. The task force shall terminate on the date that it 33
6463 submits such report or January 1, 2022, whichever is later. 34
