2120 AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF MUNICIPALITIES AND
2221 HOMEOWNERS WITH WELL WATER CONTAMINATED WITH
2322 URANIUM.
2423 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2524 Assembly convened:

2726 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Public 1
2827 Health and the Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management shall 2
2928 jointly conduct a study of municipalities in the state where the 3
3029 commissioner reasonably believes that the groundwater is 4
3130 contaminated with uranium. Such study shall include, but not be 5
3231 limited to, an examination of (1) the levels of uranium in such 6
3332 groundwater, (2) the number of private residential wells affected by the 7
3433 presence of uranium, and (3) the available resources of the Department 8
3534 of Public Health, local health departments and municipalities to provide 9
3635 assistance to homeowners and other individuals who use such wells. 10
3736 (b) Not later than January 1, 2022, the commissioner and the secretary 11
3837 shall submit to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly 12

46-development, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the 14
4742 general statutes, (1) a report on the findings of such study, and (2) 15
4843 recommendations for legislation to address potential concerns 16
4944 identified in such study regarding groundwater contaminated with 17
5045 uranium, including, but not limited to, any program that may be 18
5146 established to provide grants, low-interest loans and other forms of 19
5247 financial assistance to municipalities and homeowners affected by such 20
5348 contamination. 21
