2020 AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH'S
2121 RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING LEGIONELLA MITIGATION.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2525 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Beginning on October 1, 2022, 1
2626 and on the first day of each calendar quarter thereafter, each water 2
2727 company, as defined in section 25-32a of the general statutes, that 3
2828 supplies drinking water to one thousand or more persons and a hospital 4
2929 licensed under chapter 368v of the general statutes or a nursing home, 5
3030 as defined in section 19a-490 of the general statutes, shall sample such 6
3131 company's water system for coliform, residual disinfectant, pH, 7
3232 turbidity and temperature at sites in the company's water distribution 8
3333 system that are representative of the water entering such hospital or 9
3434 nursing home. The results of such sample shall be reported to the 10
3535 Department of Public Health in accordance with the provisions of 11
3636 section 19-13-B102 of the regulations of Connecticut state agencies. 12
3737 Sec. 2. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2022) A water company, as defined 13
3838 in section 25-32a of the general statutes, that adds chlorine or chloramine 14

4545 maintain the residual disinfectant concentration in such water at a 16
4646 minimum of 0.1 parts per million throughout such company's water 17
4747 distribution system. 18
4848 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following

5454 Statement of Purpose:
5555 To require (1) each water company that supplies drinking water to one
5656 thousand or more persons and a hospital or nursing home to sample its
5757 water system quality, and (2) each water company that adds chlorine or
5858 chloramine to its drinking water or purchases chlorinated drinking
5959 water to maintain the residual disinfectant concentration in such water
