To Fiscal Note on
sHB-6880, File No. 590
AN ACT CONCERNING ASSORTED REVISIONS AND ADDITIONS
TO THE EDUCATION STATUTES.

The fiscal note indicated an annual cost associated with Section 6 of
less than $10,000 per school district beginning in FY 24.
This was not correct. The fiscal note should have indicated that the
Section 6 cost of less than $10,000 represented the total annual estimated
cost to SDE beginning in FY 24. As detailed in the fiscal note, this cost is
to reimburse districts and participants that incur costs due to
participation in the committees established by the bill.
While some districts may incur costs associated with missed
classroom time for teachers serving on the teacher advisory committee,
the bill requires SDE to reimburse those costs, resulting in no net cost to
any district as a result of the bill.
