Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) There is established a working 1 group to study the criminal laws of this state. Such study shall include, 2 at a minimum, a review of titles 53 and 53a of the general statutes for 3 the purpose of recommending legislative changes to said titles. The 4 working group shall consist of the following members who have 5 expertise in criminal law: (1) One appointed by the speaker of the 6 House of Representatives; (2) one appointed by the president pro 7 tempore of the Senate; (3) one appointed by the majority leader of the 8 House of Representatives; (4) one appointed by the majority leader of 9 the Senate; (5) one appointed by the minority leader of the House of 10 Representatives; and (6) one appointed by the minority leader of the 11 Senate. Not later than January 1, 2024, the working group shall submit 12 a report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing 13 committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters 14 relating to the judiciary, in accordance with the provisions of section 15 11-4a of the general statutes.
