LCO 2418 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 350 February Session, 2024 LCO No. 2418 Referred to Committee on JUDICIARY Introduced by: (JUD) AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF BODY SCANNING MACHINES IN THE PUBLIC ENTRANCE AREAS OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) On or before January 1, 2025, the 1 Commissioner of Correction shall submit a report, in accordance with 2 the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, on the status of 3 the procurement of body scanning machines for use in correctional 4 facilities to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly 5 having cognizance of matters relating to the judiciary, finance, revenue 6 and bonding and appropriations and the budgets of state agencies. Such 7 report shall include, but need not be limited to: (1) The status of the 8 procurement of body scanning machines, (2) the estimated costs 9 associated with the installation and use of body scanning machines in 10 the public entrance areas of all correctional facilities, (3) 11 recommendations regarding the number of body scanning machines 12 that would be required for placement in the public entrance areas of 13 correctional facilities, and (4) the capability of body scanning machines 14 to reduce the level of contraband brought into correctional facilities by 15 those visiting such facilities. 16 Bill No. 350 LCO 2418 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section JUD Joint Favorable
