AN ACT CONCERNING A POLICE OFFICER'S ABILITY TO REQUEST CONSENT TO SEARCH A MOTOR VEHICLE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 54-33o of the general statutes be amended to restore a 1 police officer's ability to request consent to search a motor vehicle when 2 the officer has a reasonable and articulable suspicion that weapons, 3 contraband or other evidence of a crime is contained within the vehicle. 4 Statement of Purpose: To allow police officers the ability to request consent to search a motor vehicle in order to take illegal weapons and drugs off the street, as well as assist in collecting evidence of a crime.
