AN ACT REQUIRING WRITTEN NOTICE REGARDING MEDICAL
RECORDS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require that a written notice 1
be posted in the waiting room of each office of a health care provider 2
that (1) advises patients of the laws concerning the length of time that a 3
health care provider is required to maintain patient medical records, 4
and (2) advise patients how to request copies of their medical record. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To provide transparency to patients regarding the storage and
maintenance of their medical records by health care providers.
