AN ACT CONCERNING TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE CONNECTICUT 
PARENTAGE ACT. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 818 of the general statutes, also known as the 1 
Connecticut Parentage Act, be amended to replace the terms "person 2 
who gave birth", "person giving birth", "person who gives birth" and any 3 
other references to the birthing parent in said chapter with the term 4 
"mother". 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To protect the rights of women by requiring the use of the word 
"mother" in the Connecticut Parentage Act.
