1818 AN ACT CONCERNING LONG -TERM CARE FACILITY EMPLOYEE
1919 AND VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That section 19a-491c of the general statutes be amended to require 1
2424 that each long-term care facility, prior to extending an offer of 2
2525 employment to, or entering into a contract for the provision of long-term 3
2626 care services with, any individual, or prior to allowing any individual 4
2727 to begin volunteering at such long-term care facility, require that such 5
2828 individual submit to a background search, regardless of whether such 6
2929 individual will have direct access to patients or residents. 7
3030 Statement of Purpose:
3131 To prevent elder abuse by requiring all prospective employees and
3232 volunteers of long-term care facilities to submit to background checks.
