19 | 19 | SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A LITHIUM BATTERY. | |
20 | 20 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
21 | 21 | Assembly convened: | |

23 | 23 | That chapter 541 of the general statutes be amended to provide that: 1 | |
24 | 24 | (1) If a fire department suspects that a lithium battery was the cause and 2 | |
25 | 25 | origin of a fire or explosion, the fire department shall submit a report 3 | |
26 | 26 | regarding such fire or explosion and the suspected cause and origin to 4 | |
27 | 27 | the General Assembly and the Office of the State Fire Marshal; and (2) 5 | |
28 | 28 | the Office of the State Fire Marshal shall (A) collect any such reports, (B) 6 | |
29 | 29 | publish on the office's Internet web site any such reports, and (C) submit 7 | |
30 | 30 | any such reports to the joint standing committee of the General 8 | |
31 | 31 | Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public safety. 9 | |
32 | 32 | Statement of Purpose: | |
33 | 33 | To require (1) fire departments to report fires and explosions suspected | |
34 | 34 | to have been caused by lithium batteries, and (2) the Office of the State | |
35 | 35 | Fire Marshal to maintain and make public any such reports. |
