2626 AN ACT REQUIRING PHOTO IDENTIFICATION FOR VOTING

2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2929 Assembly convened:

3131 That the general statutes be amended to (1) provide that, prior to 1
3232 receiving and being able to cast a ballot at the polling place, each elector 2
3333 shall present to the official checker or checkers a current and valid photo 3
3434 identification, which identification clearly displays such elector's name 4
3535 and residential address; and (2) establish a program for waiving the fee 5
3636 associated with obtaining, for voting purposes, a motor vehicle 6
3737 operator's license, identity card or other government-issued form of 7
3838 photo identification. 8
3939 Statement of Purpose:
4040 To require photo identification at the polls in order to vote and establish
4141 a program for electors to obtain such identification at no cost.
