COURPAS, 149th Dist. AN ACT REQUIRING GOVERNMENT -ISSUED PHOTO IDENTIFICATION FOR VOTING PURPOSES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) provide that, prior to 1 receiving and being able to cast a ballot at the polling place, each elector 2 shall present to the official checker or checkers a current and valid 3 government-issued photo identification, which identification clearly 4 displays such elector's name and residential address; and (2) establish a 5 program for waiving the fee associated with obtaining, for voting 6 purposes, a motor vehicle operator's license, identity card or other 7 government-issued form of photo identification. 8 Statement of Purpose: To require government-issued photo identification at the polls in order to vote and establish a program for electors to obtain such identification at no cost.
