AN ACT CONCERNING USED MOTOR VEHICLE TIRE SALES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to (1) provide that the 1
Department of Consumer Protection shall develop a standardized form 2
in order to enable a used motor vehicle tire seller to disclose to a 3
consumer whether a used motor vehicle tire has been repaired, (2) 4
require each used motor vehicle tire seller to (A) mark with a red sticker 5
each nonrepaired used motor vehicle tire such seller offers for sale to 6
consumers, (B) mark with a green sticker each repaired used motor 7
vehicle tire such seller offers for sale to consumers, and (C) provide a 8
repair disclosure to each consumer on the standardized form developed 9
by the department, and (3) establish fines for, and authorize the 10
department to take enforcement action against, a used motor vehicle tire 11
seller that fails to satisfy such requirements. 12
Statement of Purpose:
To (1) require used motor vehicle tire sellers to label, and make repair
disclosures regarding, used motor vehicle tires, and (2) establish fines
for, and authorize the Department of Consumer Protection to take Proposed Bill No. 6055
LCO No. 3291 2 of 2
enforcement action against, any used motor vehicle tire seller that fails
to properly label, or make a repair disclosure regarding, used motor
vehicle tires.
