1920 AN ACT CONCERNING QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT AS AN
2021 ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER.
2122 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2223 Assembly convened:

24-Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2025) No person shall serve as 1
25-an animal control officer or regional animal control officer, pursuant to 2
26-section 22-331 or 22-331a of the general statutes, as applicable, if such 3
27-person is convicted of animal abuse or neglect, or enters a plea of nolo 4
28-contendere or into a plea bargain concerning a charge of animal abuse 5
29-or neglect, pursuant to section 53-247 of the general statutes. In the event 6
30-any such animal control officer or regional animal control officer is 7
31-convicted of such a charge, such officer shall be placed on unpaid 8
32-administrative leave until any applicable appeals are exhausted. 9
33-This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
34-sections:
