18	19		AN ACT EXPANDING COMPENSATION TO DEPENDENTS FOR A
19	20		DEATH RESULTING FROM AN ACCIDENT.
20	21		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
21	22		Assembly convened:

23	24		Section 1. Subdivision (6) of subsection (a) of section 31-306 of the 1
24	25		general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu 2
25	26		thereof (Effective July 1, 2025): 3
26	27		(6) In all cases where there are no presumptive dependents, but 4
27	28		where there are (A) one or more persons wholly dependent in fact, the 5
28	29		compensation in case of death shall be divided according to the relative 6
29	30		degree of their dependence, or (B) next of kin of the deceased employee, 7
30	31		the compensation shall be divided equally among the next of kin of the 8
31	32		deceased employee. Compensation payable under this subdivision shall 9
32	33		be paid for not more than three hundred and twelve weeks from the 10
33	34		date of the death of the employee. The compensation, if paid to those 11
34	35		wholly dependent in fact, shall be paid at the full compensation rate. 12
35	36		The compensation, if paid to those partially dependent in fact upon the 13
36	37		deceased employee as of the date of the injury, shall not, in total, be more 14
37		-	than the full compensation rate nor less than twenty dollars weekly, nor, 15 Committee Bill No. 6408

	39	+	if the average weekly sum contributed by the deceased at the date of the 16
