1918 AN ACT CONCERNING MINORS WHO HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF
2019 FIFTEEN WORKING IN RETAIL STORES.
2120 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

24-Section 1. Subdivision (1) of subsection (b) of section 31-23 of the 1
25-general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu 2
26-thereof (Effective October 1, 2025): 3
27-(b) (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of this 4
28-section, a minor who has reached the age of fourteen may be employed 5
29-or permitted to work as a caddie or in a pro shop at any municipal or 6
30-private golf course, and a minor who has reached the age of fifteen may 7
31-be employed or permitted to work as a staff member at a youth camp, 8
32-as defined in section 19a-420, as a lifeguard or in any mercantile 9
33-establishment as a bagger, cashier or stock clerk, provided such 10
34-employment is (A) limited to periods of school vacation during which 11
35-school is not in session for five consecutive days or more except that 12
36-such minor employed in a [retail food store] mercantile establishment 13
37-may work on any Saturday during the year; (B) for not more than forty 14
38-hours in any week; (C) for not more than eight hours in any day; and 15
39-(D) between the hours of seven o'clock in the morning and seven o'clock 16

45-in the evening, except that from July first to the first Monday in 17
46-September in any year, any such minor may be employed until nine 18
47-o'clock in the evening. Any minor who has reached the age of fifteen 19
48-and is employed or works as a staff member at a youth camp or as a 20
49-lifeguard shall be supervised by a person of at least eighteen years of 21
50-age. 22
51-This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
52-sections:
