2020 AN ACT REQUIRING OWNERS OF SHORT -TERM RENTALS TO
2121 REGISTER IN A STATE-WIDE REGISTRY AND PAY A TAX ON UNITS

2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2424 Assembly convened:

2626 That the general statutes be amended to require (1) the Department 1
2727 of Revenue Services to establish a state-wide registry of short-term 2
2828 rentals in the state, and (2) the owner of a short-term rental unit to 3
2929 register with such registry and pay a tax on any such unit that is not 4
3030 owner-occupied, provided the revenue from such tax be distributed as 5
3131 follows: Fifty per cent to municipalities, twenty-five per cent to the state 6
3232 to be provided to community action agencies for housing support 7
3333 initiatives and twenty-five per cent to the Time to Own program. 8
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To require the owner of a short-term rental unit to register in a state-
3636 wide registry and pay a tax on such units that are not owner-occupied.
