AN ACT CONCERNING FATHER INCLUSION AND ENGAGEMENT IN MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH OUTCOMES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) require the Commissioner 1 of Public Health to (A) develop and implement a public awareness 2 campaign to promote understanding and awareness of the importance 3 of father inclusion and engagement during pregnancy, childbirth and 4 postpartum, and (B) develop, in consultation with health care providers 5 and community organizations, and issue guidance to hospitals, birthing 6 centers, midwives, pediatricians and obstetricians on engaging fathers 7 in maternal and infant health care, and (2) require the Commissioner of 8 Social Services to establish a grant program to support local programs 9 that (A) educate fathers about their role in maternal and child health, (B) 10 provide resources for father-to-father mentorship, and (C) promote 11 inclusive family health care practices. 12 Statement of Purpose: To promote father involvement in maternal and infant health.
