AN ACT REQUIRING SCHOOL BUS OPERATORS TO RECEIVE AND
DISCHARGE A PASSENGER ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE ROAD AS
THE PASSENGER'S RESIDENCE ON CERTAIN ROADS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 14-277 of the general statutes be amended to require a 1
school bus operator, when receiving or discharging a passenger on a 2
highway with a posted speed limit of twenty-five miles per hour or 3
more, to receive or discharge such passenger on the same side of the 4
highway as such passenger's residence or other destination. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To increase school bus safety by requiring a school bus operator to
receive and discharge a passenger on the same side of the highway as
the passenger's residence when the highway has a posted speed limit of
twenty-five miles per hour or more.
