1818 AN ACT STRENGTHENING LAWS CONCERNING EVASION OF
1919 POLICE.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That (1) section 14-222 of the general statutes concerning negligent 1
2424 homicide with a motor vehicle be amended to raise the penalty for 2
2525 violating said section to a class C or D felony with a mandatory sentence 3
2626 of three to five years, (2) subsection (a) of section 14-223 of the general 4
2727 statutes concerning disobeying the signal of an officer be amended to 5
2828 raise the penalty for violating said subsection to a class A misdemeanor 6
2929 or class E felony, (3) subsection (b) of section 14-223 of the general 7
3030 statutes concerning engaging a police officer in pursuit be amended to 8
3131 raise the penalty to a class E or D felony for a violation not resulting in 9
3232 serious injury or death, (4) section 14-224 of the general statutes 10
3333 concerning evasion of responsibility be amended to provide for a 11
3434 mandatory sentence of two years for causing serious injury to another 12
3535 person and a mandatory minimum sentence of five years for causing the 13
3636 death of another person, and (5) section 53a-57 of the general statutes 14

4242 amended to raise the penalty to a class C or B felony with a mandatory 16
4343 sentence of five to ten years with the maximum sentence applied for a 17
4444 violation resulting in the death of a police officer. 18
