1919 AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID COVERAGE FOR ALLERGY

2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2025) (a) To the extent permissible 1
2525 under federal law, the Commissioner of Social Services shall provide 2
2626 Medicaid coverage for allergen introduction dietary supplements for 3
2727 infants enrolled in the Medicaid program to help prevent common food 4
2828 allergies, including, but not limited to, allergies to peanuts, eggs and 5
2929 dairy products. 6
3030 (b) The commissioner shall seek any necessary federal approval, 7
3131 including, but not limited to, a Medicaid waiver or amendment to the 8
3232 Medicaid state plan, to provide such coverage. Not later than September 9
3333 1, 2026, the commissioner shall file a report, in accordance with the 10
3434 provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, with the joint 11
3535 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 12
3636 matters relating to human services on (1) the number of infants 13
3737 provided such supplements, and (2) an estimate of savings that may 14
3838 accrue to the state from preventing allergies that may later require 15
