18	19		AN ACT CONCERNING THE AVAILABILITY OF ISLAMIC AND ARAB
19	20		STUDIES CURRICULUM MATERIAL FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
20	21		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
21	22		Assembly convened:

23	24		Section 1. Subsection (d) of section 10-16b of the general statutes, as 1
24	25		amended by section 32 of public act 22-80, section 3 of public act 23-21, 2
25	26		section 7 of public act 23-150 and section 19 of public act 23-160, is 3
26	27		repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 4
27	28		2025): 5
28	29		(d) The State Board of Education shall make available curriculum 6
29	30		materials and such other materials as may assist local and regional 7
30	31		boards of education in developing instructional programs pursuant to 8
31	32		this section. The State Board of Education, within available 9
32	33		appropriations and utilizing available resource materials, shall assist 10
33	34		and encourage local and regional boards of education to include: (1) 11
34	35		Holocaust and genocide education and awareness; (2) the historical 12
35	36		events surrounding the Great Famine in Ireland; (3) African-American 13
36	37		and black studies; (4) Puerto Rican and Latino studies; (5) Native 14
37		-	American studies; (6) Asian American and Pacific Islander studies; (7) 15 Raised Bill No. 7075

42	45		personal financial management, including, but not limited to, financial 16
43	46		literacy as developed in the plan provided under section 10-16pp; (8) 17
44	47		training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automatic 18
45	48		external defibrillators; (9) labor history and law, including organized 19
46	49		labor, the collective bargaining process, existing legal protections in the 20
47	50		workplace, the history and economics of free market capitalism and 21
48	51		entrepreneurialism, and the role of labor and capitalism in the 22
49	52		development of the American and world economies; (10) climate change 23
50	53		consistent with the Next Generation Science Standards; (11) topics 24
51	54		approved by the state board upon the request of local or regional boards 25
52	55		of education as part of the program of instruction offered pursuant to 26
53	56		subsection (a) of this section; [and] (12) instruction relating to the Safe 27
54	57		Haven Act, sections 17a-57 to 17a-61, inclusive; and (13) Islamic and 28
55	58		Arab studies. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection 29
56	59		shall be available to each local and regional board of education for the 30
57	60		development of curriculum on climate change as described in this 31
58	61		subsection. 32
59	62		This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
